It's a classic event in our house. A couple kids have a slight runny nose...and Logan has croup. That poor boy. He was not doing too well last night. I spent quite a bit of time with him, then Josh took a turn around 4:30am. He is always cheerful and sweet - even when he feels miserable. Last night I rubbed his back while I listened to his hacking, barking cough (hoping it was slowing and he could start to sleep). He sweetly said, "mom, I like it when you rub my back. It feels nice".
We are doing our best to keep his germs away from Kenna. I hate to ostracize him, but we just can't risk it. So of course, I don't want him coughing on ME and getting me covered in germs that I will then pass on to Kenna. I even changed my shirt last night after holding him and letting him cough all over me.
Josh gave him a blessing early this morning, and his cough subsided enough that he could finally fall asleep. What a great thing to have a priesthood holder in the house. I feel blessed to have that recourse. Josh had asked me about taking him to the doctor. The problem with croup is that it's a virus. The most they can prescribe is a steriod (like an inhalor) to help open up the airways, which we already have on hand. The last resort is if he's really bad to take him to the ER and get some extra oxygen for him. But really, there isn't much the family doctor can do. And I had done the inhalor, which only seemed to help a little. So I am grateful that we always have that "last" resort, after we've done all we can do.
The upside for Logan, is that daddy bought him gatorade (so that he'll drink and stay hydrated), and mommy is letting him watch movies all day!

Poor kid. Tell Logan that we're thinking about and praying for him.
