Another Hannah post!
Hannah brought home her 2nd trimester report card this week. In her main class she received all A's. Her teacher said, "Hannah is at the top of the class. It is very rare that a student is able to achieve a higher score during the second trimester, yet Hannah did just that." She managed to improve her Handwriting score - which was something she struggled with in the beginning of the year!
In her SFA class (which is taught by a different teacher - the entire school is divided up by ability for 90 minutes of reading - Hannah is in the top class), Hannah received a B+. Her reading level also went way up. Last trimester her fluency rate (words-per-minute at reading level) was 145. This trimester it was 184! SFA has been Hannah's most challenging class this year. She is in a class geared towards the 7th grade level and she has really had to push herself in order to succeed. We have been very pleased with her accomplishments in this class.
Way to go, Hannah!
As a parent, it's always nice to get a little external validation. :-)

That's awesome of Hannah. I'm surprised that her SFA grade is reflective of how well she reads compared to kids several grades higher, rather than reflecting how well she reads for her age. Is she someone who is disheartened by that? I would have been. I'd rather be in a lower class getting the A than a higher class getting the B, but that's because I've always cared about "the grade." It's one of my quarks.
