I think this past week must have been national playdate week. I feel like I hardly saw my kids! They went to friends' houses or friends came here every day this past week. It threw off my groove completely! I know that they had fun, though! And it was nice for them to see their friends who just got back from a 5 week trip.
Along with that, we've had some hairy nights here with both Kenna and Natalie fighting off minor colds...and not sleeping much at night. It's been a bit rough, but I've been able to sleep in both mornings that they were up a lot, and that helps me immensely.
My mom wanted to know if Kenna ever smiles. The question threw me because I thought, "of course she does. She laughs all day long!" But then I realized that when I pull out the camera, she gets a really serious expression on her face - which I happen to love - because she's THINKING about that camera and what we're doing. So this week I made an effort to get her to learn to smile when I pull out the camera.
We had our Edward Jones Client Appreciation BBQ. I did absolutely nothing to help with it. For which I have minor guilty feelings but what was I supposed to do? Too many young children for me to help put on an event like this. Maybe next year. I had to include a picture of my friend (and Josh's client) Olivia. Olivia and I sit next to each other at our Native Daughters of the Golden West group. She is 90. She and her husband (seated on the bench, not dancing) just celebrated 70 years of marriage. Olivia is the cutest woman I know - so kind (and very old - asks me my name almost every time I see her). On her 70th wedding anniversary I congratulated her and told her that Josh and I would have to work hard to catch up to her. We had just celebrated our 12th anniversary. Olivia told me that is a great achievement too because in today's world marriage is not valued as much as it should be! I thought it was kind of her to congratulate us. I hope I am still dancing when I am 90.
A few shots of the kids at the BBQ. They mostly played in the sandbox and ate cake. What else is there to do at a BBQ?
Josh is going to Girls Camp this Friday. I wish I could go with him! He's excited. We have two girls from our ward going this year. Next year Hannah will be able to go (and there is another girl turning 12 in a month who will go). They also might be going to a different camp. Right now they are up by Marysville, CA and what a long drive that is for our Stake. BUT, Josh found out at his Bishop's meeting (and he's been telling people so I guess I can too) that the Church is the high bidder on Camp Gualala (about 1.5-2 hours south of us). 400 acres with a lodge - including commercial kitchen - cabins, etc. It sounds lovely! And much better than driving clear out to Timbuktu. Josh said that 8 stakes in our area have been pushing for the Church to acquire the property.

Beautiful property on the site of Camp Gualala, too!
Unfortunately with 8 stakes vying for Girl's Camps, Boy scout camps, Duty to God Camp....it should be interesting!
Btw...great pics as usual! :)
I have to say I love the picture of Kenna smiling, you can even so how gorgeous her eyelashes are in that pic. She will be a heart breaker :)
Mom said she used to camp at Camp Gualala when she was in the eighth grade. She spent a week there and loved it.
