It's been one of those weeks. And I'm going to have another one of those kinds of weeks again as we prepare to go out of town (among other busy things).
And because it was one of those kinds of weeks, I unfortunately don't have any photos to add to my blog. But I want to take a few minutes to record what we've been up to.
The major event of the week has been soccer. I am co-coaching Brynne's team for the second year. I love it. But this week has been a LOT. Christe and I decided to do a mini soccer camp. Our kids loved the British Challenger camp they did last year, but they didn't come to Fort Bragg this year. There was another soccer camp but it was prohibitively expensive - at least for us (and I only have 1 kid in soccer - she has 3!). So we decided to jump our team's season off with a three day a week camp. Because Christe had some major stuff going on in her own life, I got our soccer weeks organized and am playing a larger role that usual in each practice. Which is fun. Hannah has been AMAZING and takes care of Kenna and Natalie for me at the field. It is a challenge. I know that I would not particularly enjoy it. Thus, I am paying her for her babysitting time.
Anyway.
Soccer has taken up the bulk of my mornings this week, and a portion of my afternoons as I plan for each new day. We were given loads of tomatoes and I bought 50 lbs of peaches - which all had to be dealt with. Yay for summer's bounty! Thank goodness the girls were willing helpers. They helped me take care of 25-30 lbs of peaches on Friday morning (since we left town that afternoon) and we'll do the rest this week. We're pretty much just freezing and drying. I didn't feel up to canning with two little girls.
There has been other stuff. School sign-ups are this week - getting Brynne all set up. 4H starts a new year in September. There is stuff to do to finish up last year, and stuff to do to get ready for the new year. Hannah is entering her quilt and some canned goods in the Boonville fair (if you live around here, we love to go to it - just a tiny little county fair but lots of fun). Hannah is an officer in 4H again so that keeps her a little busier. The girls have their babysitting gig. Just a lot of stuff, you know?
I won't list everything going on. But it all adds up. :-)
We took Gideon back to Ukiah. The day before we left I mentioned to the girls that it was his last night at our house. After paying hardly any attention to him all summer they both moaned and said, "already?" Kids! They want a dog when they can't have one and don't want one when they do have one. Funny. The weather over the hill was fabulous. Not too hot! It's always nice to dust off our summer clothes and dry out a bit.
This weekend Kenna said, "mommy's shoes". Which may not sound like much...but when you think about it, that is a two-word sentence! I just love watching each and every developmental step my little ones go through. And we're experiencing so many right now! Preteen down through infant. It keeps me entertained, for sure!
