Big News in our household this week!
On Sunday Hannah participated in an audition held by the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (of which her teacher is a member). They play 3 pieces and are judged on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the highest score. Those who score a 5 are invited to play at a state music festival (actually, CA has two, one for Northern CA and one for Southern CA). So Hannah played her three pieces and scored a 5 on all three. We are supposed to decide if she wants to perform them at the festival in January (down in the Bay Area). I don't know what we will decide, but we sure are proud of her dedication and hard work.
Second big news, is Brynne's. We had parent-teacher conferences for the first trimester of school. Brynne is getting stellar grades. Her teacher loves her, says she is just a brilliant child and should be in the GATE program. Most importantly, her teacher said that Brynne is one of the best writers in her grade. She writes very, very well.
As a home-school parent it's very hard to know just how awesome your kids are - I mean, all parents are biased. So it's wonderful to get an outside opinion that mimics your own! Brynne just loved hearing all those nice things said about her. I'm glad to know that she is enjoying school and loving it so much.
So that's it for big news.
As for little news: Kenna has a new favorite phrase. She loves to say "yes ma'am" and have us say it back to her. So cute.
And Natalie finally discovered her voice. She's been babbling "da-da" for three days now. All while trying to pull herself up on the furniture. In one week she's become a champion crawler AND is trying to see what we're doing way up on the couch! Oh, and the gate is officially up on the stairs for the next little while.

What is the GATE program? Is that similar to Tag in Corvallis? And how would that work for the rest of year and then back to homeschool?
