Rain, Rain

Our power is out!

Yesterday we had some of the biggest rainstorms I've ever seen. A LOT of rain coming down. It was crazy wet. And there was thunder. And lightening. And finally some hail. Pretty good sized hail marble-sized for the most part, with some biger 1-inch chunks. It was crazy. We also lost a large bit of the tree in our sideyard. I'd like to post photos but I'm not home right now. The tree has two main trunks going up and one of them split about 5 feet off the ground. The 15 feet or so of tree that was attached fell into our neighbor's yard, but managed to avoid knocking over the fence somehow. Which is really nice because the fence was just replaced LAST year after a winter storm. :-)

And then right before 5am the power shut off. Which isn't unusual for a big storm here on the coast.

After Josh drove around town checking on the single sisters in the ward we decided to go where it was warm - to his parents' house. And that's where we are. We might go back home sometime this week, we might stay here all week. We were going to come over for the weekend anyway, so why not stay! It just sort of depends. There is another storm coming through tomorrow and it might cause another power outage (it's supposed to be just as big, if not bigger, than last night's storm). Ah, the fun of living on the coast.

Side note - Natalie is doing good! She isn't quite reconciled to not nursing yet, but she is taking the bottle. Hooray for that!

I heard that this system of storms is supposed to be the worst in 15 years. Counting back, that puts us at 1995. Remember those storms, and how we were supposed to have a regional conference in Jan, but couldn't because all the highways were flooded?
Sorry your power is out. That really stinks. It's why I keep telling John that I really want a generator for the house. Then we could keep our house running for a week on about 2 tanks of propane. Unfortunately that will set us back about 7k and we just keep having other things to spend our money on. (Like expensive vacay's and LP offerings to save for. You know how it goes!)Have fun at the in-law's and stay warm!

Glad you are safe! When I read the paper and heard about the coast I worried about you guys!

I have to say that I'm sick of the rain, thunder and lightning at this point! :)

I'm sure the kids will love staying and playing with the grandparents and they will love having you there!
