Garden Delights

We are finally getting fully into the swing of things now. It takes about a week to put your life together after a vacation.

Our new math curriculum finally arrived. I am so EXCITED about this. It's a relatively new curriculum but it's getting great reviews on all the homeschooling sites. It seems like a good fit with my style and our family's needs. My kids love math and I've been searching high and low for just the right thing. I'm hesitant to spend a lot of money on something that might not be a good thing for us, so it's left me hovering in limbo for awhile (I bought Hannah's middle school curriculum last year so for 6 years prior I hovered before purchasing that). This is only my second "real" math curriculum ever purchased. Math guidance is available online for free - but it takes a lot more organizational effort and I'm ready to rely a little more on someone else's effort. :-)

We bought a membership for our Aquatic Center. Josh and I can use the exercise facilities in the morning, there's swimming available, and the classes are cheaper or free. We have taken the kids swimming a few times. I found that I enjoy it more than I thought I would. When we came back from vacation I had some painfully stiff shoulder/back/neck muscles. It almost felt like a pinched nerve. Ouch! The two times I've been swimming have been the two times my neck and shoulders have given me virtually no problems. It's all finally, slowly, getting better, but the swimming was a great thing for it.

Our garden has been doing really well. Our strawberries, that we planted in June, are finally growing and ripening. Josh gave me a bite of one today and it was divine! The tomatoes are turning yellow - this is a big thing for us since we get so little heat. I'm excited to have our very own fresh cherry tomatoes. I've already mentioned the lettuce.

Kenna and Natalie had so much fun working with Daddy in the yard this weekend.

They found a garter snake, tons of snails (of course), a very large spider, and Natalie enjoyed a very green strawberry.

Logan got to be dressed up as a mummy today. It was the highlight of his morning. ;-)
