New Calling

Most family members have probably heard that, yes, Josh has a new calling in the stake presidency.

I feel a little weird about it. I don't want people to think it's bigger than it is, or make a big deal out of it. It feels very strange to me, still.

I've heard the comment "priesthood widow" a few times and that really bothers me. In my mind, that's not an idea to be taken lightly. A priesthood holder who spends more time on his calling than with his family on a regular basis has probably confused his priorities. Prophets have repeatedly told us that the Church is there to support the family.

Josh has always been good about doing that balancing act, so I don't have any real concerns there. And the general authority who set him apart mentioned that balancing act during the blessing he gave Josh. In fact, there were a lot of wonderful things said in that blessing for both Josh and I. It was a very special experience.

Josh is thrilled that he will be directly involved with the youth of our stake. Many of them already know and love him (lots of the girls have fond memories of him from Girls Camp - Josh probably never would have guessed as a young man that he'd get along with girls so well!!). Working with the youth is truly an area where he excels.

Life sure throws some interesting curves at you.

We know he'll do great, both in his calling and continuing to be an awesome husband and father. Is he still teaching seminary?

Josh is amazing at the balancing act & you are the perfect match for him. You two are a power couple. Just do what you do best (being together & committed to the Lord) & you will shine!
