We had churros and chocolate for breakfast. The chocolate here is ticker and not as sweet. Also a sandwich called jamon serrano, which is extremely thin-sliced ham on a small, narrow loaf of bread. The ham is cured, not cooked, and not refrigerated. It is not legal in the US, but is EVERYWHERE here. Jenny and John love it. So does Josh. I am hammed-out. ;-)
We spent part of the morning at the Mosque -la mezquita -and luckily didn't have to pay the entrance fee. Amazing. Built by the moors, then taken over by the catholics it has interesting mixed architecture. Tons of arches that the moors built to sport the weight of all the stone. How incredible, also, that they would spend a century building it.
After that we drove 2 hours to Granada. Our hotel here is lovely. We are directly across the street from La Alhambre. We spent the entire afternoon after naps roaming the streets, shopping, sightseeing. Saw a fun steel drum band playing. Napping during the heat of the day and then starting out late is the norm. Everyone is out until 11 (except us). Love roaming the stores. The shopkeepers here are more friendly, more eager to make a sale, and more likely to bargain. The exchange rate is 1€ = $0.60. Josh and John are getting their nerd on making all the monetary and metric gas mileage conversions.
