March 9-14
My poor babies all have colds. Yes, all of them! Even Natalie. She is so snuffly. She'll be fine, but I feel so bad for her. Night-time has been hard but at least she's sleeping, albeit not quietly!
I can't think of what we have done this week. I think I've spent most of it on the couch. :-)
Brynne and Logan have had science and history with other home-schoolers. Usually I do the history but this mom is taking pity on me and having the kids over on my day and doing something simple with them. I'm grateful!
Kenna's hair has grown. After her bath the other day it looked like this:
Hannah is recording her piano songs this week. I think she's ready to be done practicing the same old songs!!
Brynne read a large book this week called "Dragon Rider". She just finished it today. She has gotten two birthday presents already....lucky girl....
Her birthday is still 12 days away! She wore her new dress from Grandma to church last week and looked darling in it. Yesterday she received three new books to read! Two about horses - her favorite topic!!
Logan snapped this funny picture of Brynners. She's quite the actress when she wants to be!
Logan has been talking my ear off. He's at the stage where he has a lot to say (oh, wait, he's been in that stage FOREVER). And sometimes it takes awhile for him to spit it out. It's so hard to be patient when you know what he's trying to say and you just have to wait for his head and his mouth to synchronize. :-) He's pretty entertaining, though.
Kenna has been toying with the idea of sleeping in a big girl bed. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that, or if she is either. She looks so cute and small lying there at night. Logan is sleeping on a separate bed right next to her for company. He acts as the gate-keeper (she can't roll off without rolling over him).
We went to Ukiah for the afternoon yesterday. Josh had appointments and I decided to tag along rather than be home alone till late at night. The pros of that were that the kids were highly entertained with Grandma's toys and playing with Gideon the dog. Josh also brought home dinner after his last appointment. AND I saved Grandma and Grandpa's house from being flooded. Well, not flooded...but things were getting a little wet! I went into the garage to see if I could scrounge up some snacks for the kids since Josh had left and we were getting hungry! As I came back in I heard the distinct "drip, drip" of something and decided to investigate....and found water leaking from the washer hose. Quite a bit, in fact. After a quick conversation with Grandpa he opted to have me call a plumber to take a look. I'm glad that they won't be wasting all that water or damaging the home while they're gone.
We had dinner with our friends Dave and Kari. Kari was in love with the baby! Kenna was in a kissy mood and Kari was the lucky recipient so that just made her day. :-)
Josh is giving yet another talk in church tomorrow. I think he ends up talking about once a month. Our ward is so small and he's either filling in for someone who can't (as he is this week), or just taking up time since everyone else has spoken recently.
Funny story about asking people to speak. About a month ago the 1st Counselor was conducting the meeting. At the end he mentioned that he'd be looking for speakers and hinted that people might want to offer to speak because he's going to be asking them anyway! I laughed and wondered if anyone would take him up on this. During the passing time after the meeting I happened to be talking to him and commented on how funny I thought that was. He said, "well, it worked. I've gotten two offers already".
We've been so blessed by our ward members. I think I have only cooked dinner once, and Josh has only cooked twice, in the two weeks since Natalie was born. And, I have several meals in the freezer still! Probably enough to get me till the end of the week when Devon comes and SHE can cook! :-) Really, I love cooking, but the thought of standing in the kitchen and timing everything around Natalie and Kenna is too much. When I do cook, sadly, it's nothing spectacular. Yet! In time....
I've been trying to get my kids to get a little more exercise and hit upon a solution....laps around the house! My children love to play outside, but they aren't doing a lot of running. Digging, singing, some climbing - yes - active aerobic movement, not so much. So now I send them out for laps just about every day. They seem to like it. They play and they know that before they come in they have to do a minimum number (which changes based on how active they've been - the more time outside, the fewer the laps I ask). They play games with it and chase each other. It's been really good for them!
