Natalie has been busy this week. Her new stunts include trying to climb the stairs and perfecting her crawling. You can see she's loving this new mobility.
She went up a step here just so she could grab the kitty. She has to be pretty motivated to go up the stairs. Usually she just hangs out on the first one.
She thought this box was pretty cool until she got on top, lost her balance, and did a face plant on the wood floor. ouch!
One of Hannah's lessons this week was about the U.S. Government. We had fun making this diagram to show what we learned. One thing that was interesting was to read the order of succession (should something happen to the President, Vice President, and Speaker of the House) - I wasn't sure the full order of succession.
Kenna is talking now. Some important things to note: "ka-ga" is how she says her name. She says a lot of stuff, it's just hard for the untrained ear to understand.
Other than that - we've spent our time working hard at our chores, our schoolwork and playing. We had our first Activity Day event at our house on Friday. I have two of the four girls, so I offered to start that program back up. It was fun. I love doing that sort of thing.
Hannah invited some friends over for a movie night last night. Giggly 11 year old girls can be interesting. Josh and I hid out in the office (with the door partway open). I was surprised how much food those girls put away! But I think they had fun. It's always interesting to me to watch Hannah interact with all her friends - especially now that she is home-schooled and they are in middle school. I do see some changes in them - talking about who's going out with who, some of them have cell phones, stuff like that. Changes that Hannah is not making yet.
I have been asking Hannah if she regrets staying home and would rather be at Public School. She's very honest with me, I think. She tells me that sometimes there are things that she misses, but that she's glad to be at home because of the freedom it gives her in her studies. I just would hate to think that she's resenting our decision to home-school through middle school. I wouldn't necessarily change my mind, but I would like to know how she feels. We don't have a large home-school support group here - or a large group of Church kids - for her to associate with. It does limit her social opportunities. But she seems pretty happy with her state right now.
The other thing I was grateful for last night as I listened to the girls bounce away on their sugar highs was that we aren't ever going to suffer through any slumber parties. Our party ended at 9pm and then we were able to clean up and go to bed. WITHOUT silly girls keeping us awake until midnight. Hip Hip Hooray for that!
My friend Kari comes to stay with me tomorrow for 4 days, then we head off to Oregon! I'm looking forward to seeing my family!

Wow, how interesting about Hannah! That would've been cool to be a fly on the wall (or a parent in the computer room with the door partly open)when they were chatting about that stuff! Where did she meet the other girls if it wasn't from school?
