Josh and I have been working on a project over the past few months. We've outfitted the kids with new bikes. Then purchased bike trailer. Now, it's our turn for bikes. The idea, of course, is to be able to go on family bike rides and have a fun, physical, outdoor activity that we can do together.
This year, for me, Christmas and my birthday are coming early. Josh bought me this beauty...just in time for our camping trip.
And for Josh, a kickbike should be arriving this week. For him we got a cheap one (a little different than the one pictured) so that he can try it out. He decided he'd rather stand than sit when we go out - since he sits all day. He can also take this around town when he has a short errand to run. We're excited to try our first family bike outing. Part of the impetus for this was biking with my Dad, sister, brother-in-law, and my kids this spring. It was so fun. I felt like we needed something enjoyable to do. A sport or something! We've tried tennis, and though Josh and I enjoy it, we can't play it safely with little kids running around on the court. That's something that will have to wait a couple more years till they can play on the playground or something while the older folks play. So in the meantime, we can load them up and take them for a ride.
I assembled my bike trailer this morning and it was so easy. I didn't need to use any tools, everything just sort of clips together. I could also take it apart if I needed to put it in the back of the van. It would take 5-10 minutes, but it wouldn't be difficult. Costco is selling this well-rated Xterra Excursion for about $50 below the regular price (in stores only).
Anyone for a bike ride tomorrow?
