Happy Thanksgiving!
In family news...the tree is up and decorated. This was one of those non-Thanksgiving years for me where I was too eager to get on to Christmas to really be excited about Thanksgiving. I even have most of my Christmas shopping done! I like to get it done early so that I can spend my time in December cooking, singing, and focusing on the Savior with the kids. Makes for a more relaxed holiday season...I hope!
We decided not to put the tree up on my steamer trunk to keep it out of reach of the littles. We did it last year and it worked out nicely, but this year our tree was a little taller and that wouldn't have worked out so well.
Here you can see last year's tree...and the bottom picture shows Natalie sitting by the steamer trunk that it's on - totally kept the tree safe!
SO, to add at least a little height (and put more of those ornaments out of reach of Kenna and Natalie), we put two boxes of food storage side by side to create a base and put the tree stand on those. The tree is sitting about two feet off the ground now, and the girls can only reach the bottom 6-12 inches (depending on the girl). So far, so good! And there is plenty of room for presents under there.
Josh's idea - isn't he smart!
