Summer's Closing

A surprising amount of August sunshine has been in attendance at the coast this past week.  We haven't had time to take full advantage of it, but we've enjoyed it nonetheless.

Soccer is in full swing.  The kids have a new coach as of last night, and I am no longer assistant coach.  Much as I love it, it really is more than I can handle time-wise.  Our three partial teams have been reduced to two full teams.  Logan started his practice, too.  He's LOVIN' it.  I saw him practice for a bit yesterday.  What a great defender!  He hung back by the goalie and managed to stop a lot of attempted goals.

We had one gorgeous evening where it was, like, seventy degrees.  We HAD to have a picnic at the beach.

Like most elderly men, Josh enjoys a pre-bedtime nap. ;-)

Sand - Nature's Loofah!

We've had friends over, and read stories.

We took a field trip to Glass Beach but ended up just working on our climbing skills because of time constraints.

Plant identification practice

We poked around with an old computer.

Brynne fashioned her own kickbag for the soccer ball with a jump rope.

We created an art studio in our garage.  Beautiful projects have been coming out!  Brynne made a new outfit for her AG doll - including new sandals.  It turned out SO cute!

Hannah survived her first full week of school (and now her second, as of today).  She's adjusting!  She's not used to all her play time being used up before she even starts her school work.  ; -)  I like this compromise of half and half so far.  I don't feel like I NEVER see her.  She comes home a little after 11am, and gets to work cloistered in her room upstairs, but at least she's home.

After our final vacation of the summer, we will get into the groove full time.  We're heading into our best weather on the coast, so feel free to swing by and visit us and enjoy some sunny days at the ocean!
