On the home front

We are heading into a busy four weeks, but I am really excited about everything that we have going on.

Recently....

Logan earned his Wolf rank and advanced to Bear.  He also received one Gold arrow and two silver.  I am learning so much about Cub Scouting.  The arrows are earned for every 10 extra achievements you do.  You can only earn one gold, but you can earn a ton of silvers.  Thanks to his uncle Bryan for taking him fishing last summer because that earned him a bunch that he wouldn't have gotten otherwise!  Sadly, it did not occur to us to take any photos at the awards night...so you'll just have to believe me.

Hannah started her period.  I am NOT old enough for this.  It was a bit of a surprise, but not completely since she is almost 14.  It was just sort of weird to me.  Sorry Hannah.  Hope you don't mind me sharing this with the family.  ;-)  I don't think she'll care.  I've tried really hard to help my kids be comfortable with the awesome bodies that the Lord gave us - they are nothing to be ashamed of!  She even felt comfortable telling Josh about everything (probably more comfortable than he was, actually).  Oh! She was extended her first ward calling today...but I won't tell you what it is until she's actually sustained and set apart.

Brynne turns 12 tomorrow - birthday post to follow eventually.  She also has her State Odyssey competition on Saturday - so lots of excitement coming up there.  She is WAY excited.  She's coming along with her violin studies.

I cut Natalie's hair.  So cute, right?  And, we've had a lot of potty successes lately, so she's basically trained for daytime.  I haven't attempted night training.  I'm thinking of waiting until after our trip in three weeks so that she doesn't have to worry about a new skill while we're traveling around.  Meanwhile, pull-ups!   It's so nice not to think about it.  Cute Natalie-ism.  At the Botanical garden the other day we were passing the area where the workers/volunteers keep all their equipment and stuff.  The workyard, I guess you could call it.  She asked if we could go back there, and I explained that it was for the workers.  She said, "when we're mens we can go there".  All those hardworking "mens".

Kenna is learning to write her letters.  She has wonderful handwriting...neater than Logan's.  I shouldn't compare.  I was just surprised.  She doesn't really know her sounds yet, but she loves to do "school" with us (at her speed only).

I made new curtains for my kitchen.  Love!

Brynne's been working really hard in school.  She keeps a daily record of her planned studies.

Finally, I thought you might enjoy hearing a song Hannah was working on a few months ago.  The file was too big to upload directly to the blog...so click HERE and the link will take you to the unlisted youtube page.

Hope everyone enjoys Conference next week!
