Josh has been busily working on our new garden bed in his spare time. All his spare time in between work, church, life and rainstorms. :-)
He finished the second row yesterday afternoon. I think the plan is to do a third row of blocks, but for now we could at least start planting.
It might be a little late to be starting a garden, but we can grow stuff year-round on the coast, so that shouldn't be a problem. Just have to choose the right crops!
Our new wooden blocks came this week and were quite a hit.
Hannah turns 12 this week. Wow. She came home from church SO excited about Young Womens. Her first activity is ON her BIRTHDAY and she thinks that is pretty awesome.
I'm doing a couponing class for Relief Society this week. I'm a little nervous to be doing the class, but hoping it turns out well. I still need to work on it. Between regular life, going out of town, and Activity Days, I've had a lot on my plate.
This week we went to Willits for "Ag" Day. Hannah's Beekeeping group presented to a total of 450 kids that streamed by throughout the day. They all did an excellent job presenting their information. We were able to go and visit the other exhibits with our kids. It was fun! We took the opportunity to do some shopping in Ukiah and visit with the grandparents and aunt Sarah. It turned into a nice little mid-week break.
Sunday is Hannah's piano recital...you're all invited!
Brynne has a couple of fun field-trips coming up including a trip to the Aquatic Center to go swimming! The best part of school is definitely the last month. That's when all the fun happens. :-)
Logan's gotten hooked on Encyclopaedia Brown books and Calvin & Hobbes. He reads them any chance he gets. Too cute.
Josh and I were rewatching some of the Stars Wars movies. We couldn't finish the second (not the original second) because it was SO bad...so we moved on to the third, which I've never seen. In the classic story of good v. evil, I think Lord of the Rings does a much better job. At least, I don't usually fall asleep through those ones!
Kenna's been in such a contrary mood lately. It's like she's two and she knows it. Yesterday at a baptism someone asked her if she liked her cupcake. She said "no", then nodded yes and took another bite. No is her favorite word. I'm really thinking she's been the best naysayer that I've ever had. It's a gift. :-) Natalie still doesn't talk at all. Still? I guess that's okay since she's only 14 months old. But she does communicate. She manages to let me know when her life isn't going fairly. Mostly in the form of screeches and tantrums. But I get the point eventually.
Josh has been overwhelmed with a lot of church business lately. Interesting how it comes in waves. He can go months with nary a welfare call, and then get slammed by a bunch of high-maintenance people all at once. I feel bad for him and wish that I could do something to make that part of his life easier. I guess just having dinner and the house picked up is nice.
I've been having a hard time running in the mornings. Kenna and Natalie are just waking up too early. I want to run while they're asleep, but they're waking up between 5:30 and 6:ooam. Josh is in the shower and can't hear them. Everyone else is asleep and is dead to the world. I just don't feel good about going out when I know that they'll be screaming while I'm gone. I can not get them to sleep in. They have really dark rooms so I don't think it's the sun. I've tried moving bedtimes around and it hasn't helped much. When they are a little older early rising isn't an issue so much. And I don't really mind that they get up if I am up, I just wanted them to sleep so I could run. If anyone has any suggestions...I'm in the market for some solutions!
